“We used to have some blacks here, and we got rid
of them,” says one Ozark student. In the 1950s, there
was a consensus among the whites to run out all of
the black population except for one household.
In 1995, 2 black junior high school students were beaten when they got off the school bus. The students never made it to school, and the family moved.
