Loewen’s Work on “Standardized” Testing Has Been Used by Others

  • The Subcommittee on Elementary, Secondary, and Vocational Education of the Committee on Education and Labor of the House of Representatives had me testify on “standardized” testing in 1979. See pages 545-555 of their Hearings: Truth in Testing Act of 1979…” Please note: the first three pages are marred by several typographical errors by the G.P.O.
  • Loewen also testified before a Maryland legislative committee considering a similar bill.
  • Here is the PowerPoint slide show Loewen used for his guest lectures on “standardized” tests.
  • In 1979 ABC’s news program  “20/20”  shot a class at Catholic University going through the Loewen Low-IQ Test.
  • James Fallows made use of my research for his article “The Tests and the Brightest” in The Atlantic.
