Comments
Legend has it that blacks were not even allowed in Burnside as workers. This is based upon the oral record contained in the Folklife Collection WKU: William Hiram Parrish, Burkesville, Cumberland County, KY; tape recorded interview, December 23, 1975; and Walter Maxey, Burkesville, Kentucky; tape recorded interview, December 29, 1975.
One woman recalls that her grandfather was town marshall and would not allow blacks after dark. c. 1900-1910.
