Comments
Mt. Vernon is the next big city over from wayne county and has a large black population. Growing up, we were strongly urged not to go to that town and to go to Fairfield instead. It was though of as a crime filled town with drugs.
I did get a feeling that the whole county was white on purpose. There was a KKK house outside of Fairfield that wasnt out of commission for that long from what I heard back then.-Acoording to a student who moved to Wayne City in the mid-1980s.
