12/2014 email from a former longtime resident: “I grew up in this town looking white but being 1/2 black. It wasnt a great environment. It is racist to certain degree and the N word is quick to roll off the lips of the ignorant. You might as well say that the entire thumb of Michigan is full of sundown towns…there are few to no blacks north of Bay City. A lot of blacks drive to Caro to work but live in Saginaw.”
