Comments
The Townboard of Saybrook voted out the sundown ordinance in 1974, however, a student at Carthage College stated that another student had one first place in the halloween costume contest having dressed as a KKK member in 1998. The ordinance may have been gone but the reputation remained. According the city resident, there was a sign that stated, “Nigger, Don’t Let The Sun Set On Your Black Ass.”
