Comments
Redding expelled its Chinese population in
January of 1886 and burned the Chinatown the next
month.
“There was a very active KKK group in Redding,
CA circa 1965-67…maybe sooner and lasted longer.”
-former resident of Redding
“The police departments [in various towns,
including Redding] used the term ‘border patrol’ either
as a name for themselves or for the practice of pulling
over minorities. Persons of colour are pulled over,
questioned, possibly ticketed and sometimes escorted
out of town after dark. The practice becomes widely
known, and generally discourages persons of colour
from returning, or considering the area as a place to
live.”
