Newspaper article, August c.19, 1924, “Ku Klu [sic] Klan Plan Big Demonstration.” Friday, August 22nd, has been designated as ‘Klan Day’ at the Martinsville fair this year under the auspices of the Casey and Marshall Klans. From the announcements and advertisements we learn that they are planning to stage the biggest gathering of Klansmen, Klanswomen, and Junior Klansmen ever staged in this part of the state. And as we know that a Klan gathering draws spectators like jam draws flies, we can expect that Martinsville on that date will witness the largest gathering of people ever assembled in Clark county
