Email interview with resident of a nearby town: “Two of our close friends who are black told me that the sundown rule was important in Lincoln County, and they would never go there with me, daylight or not.”
A public employee in Lincoln County said that there was an African American employee of the water company who was run out of town. She also said that there was a racial incident not too long ago involving a black man and a white woman living together. Some of the community members threatened to burn down the house, and the couple left town.
