For the entire time I was there I never saw a black person who lived
there.  No black person belonged to any of the three Catholic parishes I belonged to, even though nearby
Pittsburgh has thriving black parishes. 
Several times when a house went for sale, I heard from age mates that local citizens were going to buy it
jointly because a black family had expressed interest
in it.
