Comments
Although Garrett County appears to have blacks in
census figures, a librarian says that these are mostly
residents of youth camps, detention camps, and in
early years, CCC, logging, and mining camps, as
opposed to permanent residents.
“We all knew that blacks were not wanted in Garrett
County.”
-Henry Louis Gates, Jr.
