“Someone raised here (now age 41) made a comment about how things have improved because “Blacks aren’t run out of town within 3 weeks the way they used to be” — new resident.

“As you come into Colville, you would have noticed a
large white cross (lighted of course) upon the hill
overlooking the city. History has it that these were first
erected (not just here) to keep blacks out and cities
white. Now they have become ‘identifiers’ that these
communities are Christian in nature and, thus reveal
nothing about their past. The Colville cross is on
private land and therefore cannot be challenged.”
