According to a female van-driver who attended the local high school in the 1970s, the school’s principal was a leader in the KKK. She said that black students “would never last a month” at the school, and white students were taught not to mix with the black students. She also remembers a black man working as a guidance counselor at the school, but said he left soon after his child graduated.
Clymer was a coal town in the 1970s.
