4/2013 email from a former nearby resident: “I grew up in Kalamazoo my whole life and I can confirm that the town is quite segregated (like most cities). My understanding growing up however, was that our neighboring town, Portage, MI, was formed entirely as a white flight town when schools became integrated. You might want to look into the history of Portage!”
