Email from a longtime resident:
11/2010
“My son is a H.S. junior in Bolton,MA. Just today his history teacher mentioned sundown towns and noted that Bolton (and Maynard) HAD the reputation of being sundown towns years ago. This is the reason I stumbled upon your WEB site. I’ve lived in Bolton since 1986. I’m 54 years old and a white male. Yes, the town is largely inhabited by white residents but I’ve never sensed any racism or hostility toward any ethnic, racial, or religious group or toward gays or lesbian couples who have lived here…I sure hope that Bolton is no longer a sundown town.”

The town was involved in abolitionist and anti-slavery causes.
