Hi. I grew up near Albany, Mo., in Gentry County, Northwest Missouri. I’ve always understood that, until sometime in the 1970s, they maintained as part of the city code a rule that said blacks couldn’t spend the evening in the town. I haven’t looked it up; it was just something we all understood to be a fact. There was no signage at the city limits, though.
