Comments
“I grew up in Wichita Kansas and obtained my undergraduate degree at what is now Wichita State University. One of my white classmates at WSU used to tell that I would not be welcome in her hometown after dark because of an ordinance barring blacks being in that town after dark. That town is Greensburg, Kansas, out in western Kansas. I would assume that such ordinances were not uncommon in that part of the state.”
